Book Wrap Up: January

I’ve always loved a good Science Fiction book. A few years ago, I discovered a new passion for reading. You could always find a physical book in my hand. And when I had my son, I discovered the Kindle, which fueled my reading passion even further.

This monthly blog will include all the books I’ve read, a brief summary of the book (no spoilers), and the rating I gave the book.

*All books this month are full of spice! Please read the content warnings at the beginning of each book for additional information.

Books I’ve read this month:

Freed by K. A. Riley

Genre: Adult Dystopian Romance (Book #6 of Thrall series)

Rating: 4.4/5

I feel like I waited ages for this book to be released! Dystopian is my favorite genre, but I’ve recently really gotten into romance—and I like my romance SPICY. This series is the best of both worlds. The Thrall series looks into the world of the Thethered. Humans with special powers ranging from the ability to heal others (Healers) to being able to steal other people’s powers and keep them for yourself (Blades). The first book of the series, Thrall, focuses on Shara’s story. The storyline changes, but I don’t want to give too much away. I highly recommend reading if you love a good spicy Dystopian!

Rules of Engagement by J.T. Geissinger

Genre: Adult Romance

Rating: 3.5/5

Enemies-to-lovers isn’t my favorite trope, but J.T. Geissinger is such an intriguing author that anything she writes is an automatic read!

A matchmaker who helps others fall in love may find her toughest challenge yet when a professional football player begrudgingly walks into her office to request help settling down.

Liars Like Us by J.T. Geissinger

Genre: Adult Romance (Book #1 of the Morally Grey series)

I love a good trilogy. Each book focuses on one brother as they also navigate running the biggest media company in the world. Liars Like Us was my favorite of the 3 books. Lies, many secrets, and spice made this book hard to put down. So hard that I read it in one day!

Fall into You by J.T. Geissinger

Genre: Adult Romance (Book #2 of the Morally Grey series)

Of the trilogy, Fall into You had the best overall plot. When a one-night stand comes back to hunt you at the worst possible time, Shay can either run or stand firm to make sure nothing gets in the way of what she wants.

Beg for Me by J.T. Geissinger

Genre: Adult Romance (Book #3 of the Morally Grey series)

I had not read many age gap romances, but this one was definitely entertaining. A narcissistic ex and an obsessive crush result in a bit of drama and a lot of begging.

From Here to Eternity by A.L. Jackson

Genre: Adult Romance (Book #1 of the Moonlit Ridge series)

This was a very interesting read and maybe one I would not have read if I didn’t receive this in my “Blind Date With a Book” box I ordered for my birthday. This is a 5-part series about a group of friends who made a pact to protect those who aren’t able to protect themselves. I am beginning to realize why Morally Grey is a favorite shade to many. IYKYK.

Thanks for reading! If any of the books spark your interest, let me know in the comments!
